چکیده

ObjectiveThis longitudinal study aimed to measure the time course of intellectual changes after pediatric focal resective epilepsy surgery and identify their predictors.MethodsWe analyzed a cohort 81 school-aged children with intractable seizures who underwent neurosurgery (focal resection) from 2000 2018 in La Timone Hospital (Marseille). Neuropsychological assessments were carried out before then 1, 2, 3, 5 years surgery.ResultsEighty-one patients median age at 13.74 [4.25] enrolled. Overall, 45 (55%) recruited improved on least one five domains Wechsler Intelligence Scale. Temporal lobe localization postoperative seizure freedom main prognostic factors impacting outcome (improvement decline) surgery. Younger less likely have IQ decline. Intellectual improvement could be delayed for up concerned all except Verbal Comprehension Index (VCI). decline occurred mainly during first two was reflected full-scale intelligence quotient (FSIQ) Working Memory (WMI).ConclusionsOur points that adolescents TLE achieved are leading candidates achieving improvement. This enhancement function shows long course, whereas is evidenced earlier.
